Sarajevo Phoenix

Sarajevo Phoenix is a Bosnia-based group of 17 war widows producing hand-made crafts, including Christmas ornaments, handbags, pillow covers and clothing. Their exquisite crocheted and embroidered items provide their only source of income in a failing economy with 44% unemployment. The women represent three different religions and ethnic groups – Catholic Croats, Orthodox Serbs and Muslim Bosniaks – working together peacefully to feed their families.
